Hellllo! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!! I know I have been enjoying this beautiful weather the past few days and took advantage of it today by going for a run in the park.
Just a few things I’m loving lately… feel feel to share things that you’re loving lately as well!
New running shoes
I just bought these running shoes yesterday and am loving the bright color! They go perfectly with my underarmour shirt from this post. They are Asics GT-1000, and are pink to support breast cancer awareness, but I just picked them because I liked the color. Check them out online here!
I wore them for the first time today for my run at the park. This was only the second time I’ve run since resting my ankle, so I did my best to go slowly and keep it pretty short. It’s always a good idea to ease into running with new shoes anyways so it worked out! It was a beautiful afternoon, and I loved seeing others enjoying the sunshine too- playing at the park, walking dogs, and running by. My favorite time to run outside is in the fall or spring- when the weather is just warm or cool enough, it feels so good!
The Uniceft Tap Project
I’ve heard about this several times recently, and finally decided to look it up this weekend to see what everyone was talking about. I loved the idea as soon as I started reading about it! According to their website, the Uniceft Tap Project is a nationwide campaign that invites you to go without using your phone to provide clean water to children in need, all across the world. 768 million people don’t have access to clean water everyday. That’s a mind boggling statistic. For every 10 minutes that you don’t touch your phone, sponsors at Uniceft will fund one day of clean water for a child in need. How can you get involved?? It’s easy- just go to “uniceftapproject.org” on your smartphone, click begin, and leave your phone laying down flat to begin counting how long you go without tapping anything on your phone. When my phone is sitting next to me while I am writing lesson plans, checking e-mails, or even blogging, I know I am guilty of constantly looking and it and tapping the front to see if I have any new texts or notifications. Well, if my phone is sitting right next to me, I would obviously hear or see it if someone calls or texts me… so why do I feel the need to click my phone ever few minutes anyways? I think this project is not only a great way to realize how often we are using and checking our phones, but also to help those in need in the process. I can’t think of a simpler way to help out- all you have to do it let your phone sit there while you are working on things! Get started here!
MAC powder foundation has been my go-to makeup for awhile now, but I recently wanted something else to provide a little more coverage. While I don’t like to pile on the makeup (simpler is better in my book), I was looking for something that would last me all day! When you get up at 5:15, but the time the afternoon rolls around, it’s been awhile, so I wanted something that I wouldn’t have to always be reapplying. A few weeks ago, I stopped by the MAC counter in the mall, and talked to a makeup artist who recommended this foundation. It’s been lasting much longer so I’ve been happy with it so far!
The bottle on the left is called Studio Fix Fluid- it also has an SPF of 15 which is an added bonus! I apply this liquid foundation first with a small makeup brush, then lightly cover it with the powder foundation on the right side-called Studio Fix Powder Plus. Last time I bought it, I told them which shade I needed, then added, “I think it’s the lightest one you guys sell…” She informed me that it wasn’t- there is one lighter shade below the one I use! Yes, I was excited. It’s the little things in life.
They are a little on the expensive side, which is the only downside. They do last awhile though so I think it balances out either way. Check them out online here:

Breakfast… all the time
I love breakfast foods! Cereal, yogurt, granola, oatmeal, smoothies, pancakes… I could seriously only eat breakfast foods from now on and would be a happy girl. I assembled a yogurt bowl for this morning’s breakfast with Chobani vanilla yogurt, blackberries and grapes, topped off with a little granola. I’ve been working on lesson plans all afternoon, so tonight was a Starbucks and cereal kind of night! I mixed a couple kinds of Kashi cereal together with almond milk, topped with a sliced banana and blackberries. So simple, but so good!
Speaking of Starbucks…
I kept reading on one of my favorite healthy living blogs, Peanut Butter Fingers, that she likes peppermint cappuccinos from Starbucks. That sounded really good when I read it on her blog, so I tried one for myself and loved it! (Although I switched things up a little and got a latte instead of a cappuccino… I don’t like all that foam). I really liked it, and have gotten several since then. I try not to go to Starbucks too too much since it’s not necessarily the healthiest option, but it just depends but you get! It’s all about balance anyways. I typically choose a 2-pump peppermint (that way it’s not as sweet) latte with skim milk. The peppermint adds a little flavor, and the espresso is a nice little boost of caffeine.
This is such an easy accessory that I often overlook! You can wear thicker ones as part of your outfit to keep you warm on cold days, or you can add a thin one to dress up a simple outfit. I recently discovered the number of scarves that I have so have been wearing them more often. The pink flowery scarf in the picture below is actually from Germany- our exchange student from last year brought it for me and it’s one of my favorites!
