Good Morning! How’s it going? I’m enjoying one last day off work today, before I head back to work tomorrow when school starts. I met some of the students I’ll be working with at our open house last week, so I’m excited to meet the rest tomorrow and begin a wonderful school year.
As promised, this begins my monthly tradition of Things I’m Loving Lately! I’ll share anything that I’ve recently discovered or have been enjoying lately. It might be a new food item, a TV show, a book, or anything else. Feel free to play along and share your favorites in the comments section following this post.
The thrilling series follows the main character Olivia Pope and the rest of her team as they work to protect the public images of the elite and the Presidential Party. Her team calls themselves “Gladiators in Suits,” which proves to be a deserved name as they stop at nothing to defend their clients and bring justice to those on the other side. Each episode has its own mini mystery and I’m so addicted right now! I’m almost done watching the third season on Netflix, so I’ll be counting down the days until the fourth season airs in later September.
This dress caught my eye when I was shopping this weekend, and I loved the cute yet professional look it holds. It was a reasonable price, so I thought this dress would make a great addition to my wardrobe for both a day of teaching and a girls night out! I had never heard of this brand before finding this dress, but I looked up their website online, so check it out here if you’re interested: Mud-Pie
The Genius Behind the Creation of These
Whoever jumped on the bandwagon of making everything in the world pumpkin flavored knows what they’re doing. And we should be best friends.
I can’t scroll through Instagram or walk through Target without seeing a new pumpkin flavored item lately. I get equally excited every time I see anything with the word “pumpkin” in the title. These are a few of the things I can’t wait to try this fall – especially the Jif Whips Pumpkin Peanut Butter. I love their regular peanut butter, so combine that with pumpkin and you’ve got my vote! Actually, combine anything with pumpkin and you’ve got my vote. I’m officially addicted!
Lately I’ve been incorporating yoga into my exercise routine to supplement running and strength training. A little stretching feels so good after a hard run or when I’m sore from lifting. I just read in a Runner’s World magazine this morning that it is better to stretch post-run. Light stretching is OK before a run to loosen up (such as a standing quadriceps stretch or a hamstring stretch), but save most of your stretching for after your run. Read this article for more information on pre- and post- run stretching: Should I stretch before or after my runs?
Yoga helps me slow down and feel more relaxed, in addition to increasing my flexibility and strength. I have mostly been completing a “Yoga for Runners” series on my DVR at home. If you don’t have that option, look up yoga videos on YouTube, check out this article from Huffington Post, Top Ten Yoga Poses to Relieve Stress, or look on Amazon Prime for videos if you are a member.
Practicing each pose when you go to bed would also be a great way to unwind after the day and feel relaxed before going to sleep.
White Chocolate Wonderful Peanut Butter
It looked like this when I bought it….
… and looked like this in no time at all!
This stuff is seriously so addicting. It takes like a peanut butter cup! I put a spoonful in my morning oatmeal, on top of banana ice cream for dessert, or (my personal favorite!) eat it right out of the jar. I have also tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor, but this one is my all-time favorite.
That wraps it up for the things I’ve been loving lately! Check back in for another post at the end of September where I share my favorites from the past month.
Happy Labor Day!
