Chocolate Proyo

Coming at you today is a recipe for this deliciousness.

It all started this week when I ran into the store to restock my supply of Quest bars. If you haven’t tried these yet, you need them in your life. My favorite kinds are the chocolate ones (obviously), like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and S’mores.

While I was there, I also picked up this protein powder the size of my face.

Cellulor protein

There are so many different types of protein powders (whey protein, protein isolate, pea protein, egg white protein…) that it can be overwhelming to choose one if you have never tried one before. The first time I bought a protein powder, I tried the Vega One protein since it is plant-based. I don’t consider myself a vegan right now, but after I ate vegan for a month last summer (Read about it here –> So what DID you eat during your month as a vegan?) I’ve tended to lean more towards that direction. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Vega One protein; it was ok but the taste just didn’t do much for me. A friend recently recommended Cellulor protein to me, so I decided to go with that one this time.

I’ve professed my love for “banana ice cream,” on the blog before, which is basically just blending frozen bananas with a little almond milk in a food processor. Check out one of my favorite combinations here. But as much as I love this cool, creamy treat, I wanted something that was higher in protein. Enter proyo!

Pretty simple right? No Common Core math there!!

First, I placed a container of Greek Fage yogurt in the freezer to let it harden. This has been my go-to kind of yogurt lately since it is so high in protein (one cup has 18 grams), and I am always looking for ways to add more protein to my diet. I let it chill in the freezer for approximately an hour.

I combined it in a food processor with 1 scoop of Cellulor protein powder, 1/2 frozen banana, and enough almond milk to get things going (probably between 1/3- 1/2 cup).

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop Cellulor protein powder
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • Almond milk (between 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup)
  • 1 container Fage Greek yogurt (or 1 cup if you don’t buy the single serve containers)

Directions

1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.

2. Add in almond milk as necessary to reach your desired level of consistency. Add any toppings you would like and enjoy!
