What should you do when you buy protein powder the size of your face?
Make protein shakes! Of course.
As soon as I tasted this combination, I knew it was going to be my new favorite thing. (I mean, combine anything with coffee and it would be my new favorite thing!)
Today’s protein shake features Cellulor whipped vanilla protein powder, instant coffee, unsweetened Silk vanilla almond milk, and a frozen banana.
I picked up these instant coffee packets at Target this week because they were only $1. At this rate, I’ll be on Extreme Couponing in no time.
Sidenote: When I’m making smoothies or protein shakes, I always use frozen bananas. They make it taste a million times better and results in a much creamier texture – it tastes like dessert! Just remember to peel the bananas before putting them in the freezer. Otherwise, you’ll be digging at the side of them like a crazy person because you need to use this frozen banana right now, trying to scrape the peel off while your hand goes numb from holding a frozen banana. No, I’m not speaking from personal experience. Why do you ask?
This protein shake is quickly becoming my go-to way to refuel after a run or workout session. Perfect for a post-workout treat or an on-the-go snack, this shake is effortless to make and tastes delicious! So grab your blender and let’s get going!
- 1 scoop Cellulor whipped vanilla protein powder
- 1 packet instant coffee (I used Folgers but any brand will work!)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup unsweetened Silk vanilla almond milk
- 5-6 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Add more almond milk as necessary to reach your desired consistency. Serve and enjoy! I like my smoothies/shakes to be thick (so thick you pretty much need to use a spoon to eat them) so I add in plenty of ice, too!
I just got this bottle last week and am loving it! It’s perfect for mixing pre-workout in before the gym, or taking a protein shake to go.
And here on the counter we can see my current Quest Bar/ Cellulor Protein addiction!
I was off school yesterday for our spring break, but it was back to business today. After a day of teaching, I headed to the gym for a HIIT cardio session and run, then wrapped things up with a short chest and back workout. I took advantage of the gorgeous weather yesterday and went for a run outside then, too. I love starting the week off on an active note! I just started teaching a Nutrition class once a week for the after school academy program at my school, so I’m off to finish some last-minute planning.
Have a great night!!
