Good Morning! How was your week? Mine started off with a fun surprise: a Happy Box! I recently entered a giveaway that Katie, the author behind another healthy living blog, “Healthy Diva Life,” was featuring from Natural Life. I was excited to find out I won the giveaway and received my Happy Box earlier this week.
So awhile ago when I first started looking into Beachbody products, I ordered the three day refresh kit. I did try it … for about half a day.
I originally typed out a more detailed post explaining my reasons for not completing the refresh the first time, but will just sum it up by saying I loosely completed the first day, was upset/stressed about something later, so didn’t feel like eating or having anything after that. So when I got to the end of the second day at work and still had all of the shakes left, I figured I really hadn’t followed the plan and should do it later when I was committed. If you’re not all in, there’s really no point in doing something in life!
So back into the box the packets went, where I forgot about them until this past weekend. I was talking with a friend who just ordered the 3 day refresh to complete. Thinking about it on my run the next day, I thought, you really should be able to do this. I had actually drank my shakeology that morning, and since the plan has you start the day that way, I was already partway into the first day.
After coming back from my run, I mixed up the mid-morning fiber sweep packet before I could change my mind.
What does a typical day look like??
Breakfast: Shakeology and 1 serving from the fruit list (or blended in your shake)
Favorite flavor – chocolate of course!
Mid-Morning: Fiber Sweep packet, mixed in water
Lunch: Vanilla Fresh shake, 1 serving each from the fruit, vegetable, and healthy fats list
Afternoon snack: 1 serving from the vegetables list and 1 serving from the healthy fats list. I alternated between broccoli and hummus, or tomato and avocado.
Dinner: Vanilla Fresh shake, and 1 serving from the dinner recipes list. The three-day refresh guidebook comes with a list of simple recipes you can choose from for dinner. I had steamed broccoli and carrots one night, and cucumber and tomato with balsamic vinegar another night. These are all things I would eat normally, and you can add herbs and spices too, so I actually liked this!
The three day refresh guide recommends mild to moderate exercise during this time. I tried to keep things on the lighter side while still staying active, so here’s what I did:
Tuesday: Run outside in the morning, half an hour of lifting at the gym that afternoon, CXWORX core class at my gym
Wednesday: I took the day off and no workouts were performed with the exception of walking my sweet dog
Thursday: Yoga for Runners video in the morning, CXWORX class at my gym in the afternoon
I am loving the new CRWORX class, created by Les Mills, that my gym recently started offering. CRWORX is a 30 minute core strength class. Since I never tend to do enough ab work at the gym on my own (I always say I want abs but HATE working them – go figure), this class has been a great way for me to make sure I’m getting in some core work each week.
When you’re early to class, take a selfie!
I really do feel great after completing the three-day refresh! I feel lighter and honestly more refreshed after not having any processed foods put into my body. I love love love my shakeology so drinking that in the mornings wasn’t hard at all. The rest of the refresh wasn’t always the easiest – I tend to want to eat snacks at night which is unfortunately frowned upon in this plan. But I wanted to do it to prove to myself that I could, so I am proud of myself for sticking with it. Let me know if you’re interested in the three day refresh and I’m happy to tell you more about it!
